This study for the Çubuk II and Kavşakkaya Reservoir Basins aims to protect Ankara’s drinking water resources and ensure long-term water security. Surface and groundwater feeding the reservoirs were analyzed in detail, and all natural and human-related factors affecting water quality were assessed. Protection zones were defined in line with the EU Water Framework Directive, and special measures were developed to improve and safeguard water quality. The project provides a clear roadmap for sustainable water management, pollution prevention, and the continuous supply of safe drinking water to the city.
