Approximately 77 million cubic meters of water are drained annually through the sinkholes located in the closed Muğla basin. Within the scope of the project, hydraulic structures were designed to regulate inflow, maintain stable sinkhole operation, and reduce sediment transport, without altering the natural characteristics of the system.
The hydrogeological assessment evaluated sinkhole channels, inlet structures, contributing catchment areas, sinkhole intake capacity, and the water accumulation depth and area resulting from precipitation. Based on these analyses, customized hydraulic engineering solutions were developed for each individual sinkhole.
